JoAnne Claghorn Obituary (1948 – 2022) – Fair Oaks, CA
JoAnne Cahoone Claghorn
March 2, 1948 – June 20, 2022
Fair Oaks, California –
JoAnne left us June 20 2022 on the last day of Spring.
JoAnne leaves behind and is greatly missed by her husband Glenn Claghorn, her Sister Kathleen Cahoone Faircloth and her Aunt Pat Cahoone Wildberger. JoAnne is also survived by Glenn’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her Brother Bill and his wife Penny’s children and grandchildren, her Sister Kathy’s children and grandchildren along with many cousins. She loved ALL of her family and delighted in their visits.
Born in Fair Oaks, JoAnne lived most of her life on ‘Gallaher Hill’ in Fair Oaks. The past 20 years she and her husband lived in the home on Lemon Street that was built by her Maternal Grandparents – William and Dottie Gallaher.
JoAnne always knew she wanted to be a nurse and she worked very hard to earn the credentials to practice and devote herself to Public Health. She had a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which was a Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse and Public Health Nurse focused on Women’s health. She developed programs of prenatal care that significantly reduced infant mortality in certain areas of Sacramento.
Years ago, multiple chronic health conditions forced Joanne into early retirement from a career she loved and to which she was devoted. Though she could no longer practice medicine, she never gave up hope that she might once again, return to her field. 2 months before her passing, she renewed ALL of her licenses thru 2024.
A graveside service will be held at Fair Oaks Cemetery October 10, 2022 at 9:00 AM. She will be laid to rest alongside her twin brother, John Muir Cahoone. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Planned Parenthood in JoAnne’s honor.
