Stockton residents react to warnings about possibly related killings

Stockton police are encouraging people to be careful when going out at night as they’ve noticed most of the city’s unsolved homicides have a pattern. Now, neighbors are reacting to the warning. While there is no evidence of a serial killer, Stockton police chief Stanley McFadden on Wednesday took note of public speculation about one. He also said that detectives analyzing crime data pointed out that some of the recent homicides have happened either during the night or early morning in poorly lit areas where there is no security camera. The victims were also often alone.”We don’t want anyone to be victimized. We want folks to walk together, to be indoors when they can. Some other similarities are — very dark places where these incidents are happening. Comeback over here, it’s cool,” said Chris Carrillo, who lives in the Lincoln Village neighborhood where a victim was gunned down and killed earlier this week.The Stockton Police Department said in a release that it is gathering a team of detectives, crime analysts , camera room operators, evidence technicians, and task force officers on the county, state and federal levels.Currently, there is nothing indicating if these homicides were committed by one or multiple people. According to the police department, there have been 43 homicides so far this year compared to 32 at this same time last year. The clearance rate for solving homicides is roughly 50%.
