CHP officer in critical condition after being hit by a driver in Sacramento

A California Highway Patrol officer is in critical but stable condition after being hit by a driver early Sunday morning in south Sacramento. According to a CHP spokesperson, units were on the scene of a fatal crash on Stockton Boulevard south of Florin Road at 12:32 am when the incident occurred. CPR was performed on the officer before they were taken to the hospital. The driver has since been brought into custody for potentially being under the influence of alcohol when they hit the officer. SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

A California Highway Patrol officer is in critical but stable condition after being hit by a driver early Sunday morning in south Sacramento.

According to a CHP spokesperson, units were on the scene of a fatal crash on Stockton Boulevard south of Florin Road at 12:32 am when the incident occurred. CPR was performed on the officer before they were taken to the hospital.

The driver has since been brought into custody for potentially being under the influence of alcohol when they hit the officer.
