Fresno, Calif. (KMJ/FOX26) — Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer announced on Wednesday a new proposal for students who want to use the Fresno Area Express (FAX) Transit System.

The proposal states that any student with a valid student photo ID could ride the bus for only 75 cents a ride or pay for a monthly pass for $22 starting next year.

Following the proposal, Fresno Unified School District announced that they will be offering free bus passes to all their high school students.

Also taking place, Fresno State and the State Center Community College District are restarting their free fare programs with FAX, which allows students, faculty, and staff to ride for free.

The new proposal will be heard tomorrow at the Fresno City Council meeting.
