Stockton plant nursery owner says thieves stole rare $300 plant

A Stockton business owner no longer feels safe after she said thieves targeted her business, taking off with a $300 rare albino monstera plant.Tina Phon, the owner of The Lush Studio on the Miracle Mile, said a man and a woman walked into her flower shop around 2 pm Sunday.”He was fidgety. On his phone, walking back and forth. That’s when he asked if he could see a plant,” Phon said. She said he started asking questions about the most expensive plants in the store. Phon took one out to show him but held it in her hands before locking it back in the case to assist another customer.” I went back to the register and that’s when the lady came up to me. She started doing her job to distract me. I looked: The display case was open. I’m like, OK my plant’s gone,’ and he was halfway out the shop,” Phon said. Phon chased the man out of the store and his shirt and she said he slammed her hand in the door but, she didn’t give up. The man ran down the street and threatened that he had a knife before jumping into a nearby backyard. “They’re going to go down for assault. It’s not just stealing anymore, he assaulted me and he threatened me with a knife,” Phon said. She said she’s turned over all her video to the police with hopes they will be able to track down the suspects.” Whether it was a $12 plant or a $300 plant, I’m still going to go after you if I see you walking out of my shop with a plant,” Phon said.
