ERWIN – Betty Lillian Stockton, 87 years old, from Erwin, died on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 at the Center on Aging and Health in Erwin. Betty is from Burnsville, NC and is a daughter of the late Orville and Ethel (Cook) Tipton. She was a member of the Erwin Church of Christ and withdrew from the Top Dollar Store. Betty enjoyed sewing quilts and pillows, crocheting Afghans, cooking and working in her flower garden. In addition to her parents, her daughter Cathy Jo Buck precedes her in death; Sisters Wanda “Dee” Weaver-Peterson, Judy Gail Fox, and Jessie Grassi; Brothers Wilbur Tipton and David Tipton.
Betty Lillian Stockton left her keepsake: Husband of 70: Carter Stockton; Son: Terry L. Stockton and important others Judith N. Jones; Sister: Geneiva Silvers; Six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.
The family would like to express special thanks to all of Betty’s friends for their love and friendship over the years.
The family respectfully requests your presence as we pay tribute and commemorate the life of Betty Lillian Stockton in a memorial service at 12:00 noon in the Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Minister Jeff Winters will officiate. Visiting time to share memories and support the family begins on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. and lasts until the service in the Valley Funeral Home. Following the funeral service on Friday, there will be a funeral service in Evergreen Cemetery. The pallbearers are Michael Peterson, Aaron Peterson, Allen Johnson, Jackie Tipton, Ed Wingart and Chris Stockton. The participants of the funeral service will meet at the Valley Funeral Home on Friday at 12:00 noon to go to the cemetery in a procession.
