Man arrested in connection with robbery, shooting in downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — Police arrested a man in connection with a robbery and shooting that took place Tuesday in downtown Fresno last year, officials with the Fresno Police Department said.

Police say Alize Lopez, 23, was at a home in the Blackstone and Fedora Avenue area on December 28 when he got into a verbal disturbance with two other men.

During the disturbance, officers said Lopez pointed a gun at one of the men and took his credit cards and cell phone. As Lopez left the area, officials said he fired a bullet from the pistol, which went through a wall of the home.

Detectives from the Street Violence Bureau’s Felony Assault Unit and the SVB Tactical team investigating the incident said they were able to identify Lopez as a suspect and said he was a known gang member.

Lopez was located by SVB investigators in the Ashlan and Marks Avenue area on Tuesday, officials said.

Officials say a search warrant was served at his home, which found additional evidence related to the incident.

Lopez was later sent to the Fresno County Jail on charges related to robbery, shooting, and illegal possession of a firearm.

Fresno Police Department officials say this case will be submitted to the MAGEC Attorney’s Office.
