Stockton Leads NJAC Teams at NCAA Metro Regional Championship; 12 Named All Region

RESULTS

CENTER VALLEY, PA — Stockton put together its best-ever finish at the NCAA Cross Country Regionals on Saturday to lead all NJAC squads at the meet, held on the DeSales University course.

The Ospreys finished third in the team standings with 127 points. They were among four NJAC teams in the regional top 10, including TCNJ in fourth (136 pts.), Rowan in ninth (245 pts.), and Ramapo in 10th (303 pts.). Montclair State also put together a program-best regionals finish, placing 13th in the team standings. There were 24 complete teams in the meet.

A total of 12 NJAC runners earned All-Metro Region honors via top-35 individual finishes.

Jaelyn Barkley led all NJAC runners, placing seventh and qualifying for nationals in the process. She clocked in at 23:27 on the 6K course and within 40 seconds of the winning time of 22:50. Each runner on the winning team (Widener) along with the next seven top finishers individually qualify for nationals, set for Saturday, Nov. 19, in Lansing, MI.

She was joined in all-region status by NJAC Rookie of the Year Kayla Kass, who finished 16th overall (24:05), as well as Jessie Klenk (29th; 24:25) and Guinevere Kennedy (35th; 24:35).

Suzanne Zaugg was the second NJAC finisher, crossing the finish line in 23:46 for 11th place overall. Teammate Zoey Cassavell also earned all-region accolades via a 26th place finish and 24:19 time.

Jenna Priore led a group of four TCNJ runners who earned all-region. Priore clocked in at 24:06 for 17th place overall. Cassidy Quinn was just behind in 24:07 for 18th. Salini Iyer and Emily Hoegler finished back-to-back in 32nd and 33rd. Iyer clocked in at 24:27 and Hoegler at 24:31.

Rounding out all-region honors were Rowan’s Anna Sasse and Gabriella Pagano. Sasse finished 24th overall with a time of 24:14 and Pagano was 31st with a time of 24:26.

Christiana Caprio led Montclair State, placing 54th out of the 170 runners in the meet. She crossed the finish line in 25:19.

NJCU freshman Grace Sabaya also competed as the only Gothic Knight woman in the meet. She also had a terrific meet with a career-best time of 25:01 to finish in the top 50.
