Suspect arrested after Modesto donut shop clerk was shot in the face during a robbery – CBS Sacramento
MODESTO (CBS13) – Detectives arrested the suspect who shot a clerk at a Modesto donut shop in the face in a robbery earlier this week.
Modesto police say the incident happened around 7 a.m. in the We Donuts store on Scenic Drive.

The suspect went into the store, asked for cash, and then shot the seller. According to police, the employee was shot in the face at least once.
It’s unclear whether the suspect got away with money.
Since then, Modesto police have been trying to identify the suspect. During their investigation, detectives learned that the suspect’s identity matched that of an armed robbery that took place in a 7-Eleven along McHenry Avenue in early October.

The suspect has since been identified as 35-year-old David Smith from Modesto. He was arrested on Wednesday – and the weapon believed to have been used in the robberies was also seized.
Detectives believe Smith is also linked to an October 9th robbery in Livermore.
Smith has been pre-ordered from the Stanislaus County Jail and faces numerous charges.
