The 13-year-old boy may need surgery after being hit by a car in Stockton

A BOY suffered a broken arm and may need surgery after being hit by a car while cycling.

The 13-year-old boy was cycling in Stockton at around 4.30pm last Thursday 13 January when the incident happened.

He was alone and using the pedestrian crossing on Bishopton Road West/Rimswell Road when the collision happened.

He suffered a broken arm and other injuries that may require surgery.

It is suspected that the car involved could have been a black Ford Fiesta.

The male driver first stopped to check the boy was okay, but then left the scene without providing contact information or providing any further assistance to the child.

The driver is described as being in his 60s with white hair and a white beard and wearing dark clothing.

He was alone in the vehicle.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: “We are asking this driver to come forward – as well as anyone else with information / dashcam or CCTV footage that may assist our ongoing investigation.

“Please call the Cleveland Police Department at 101 and quote ref. CVP-22-6910.”
