The governors of Nevada, California are planning a solution to the congestion on I-15 – CBS Sacramento

LAS VEGAS (AP) – The governors of Nevada and California say they have a plan to immediately ease traffic congestion on Interstate 15 on the state border.

In a joint announcement on Sunday with Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, California Governor Gavin Newsom said the hard shoulder about five miles south of the border will be converted into a third lane during rush hour. The Las Vegas Journal reports that the project will cost about $ 12 million.

However, Newsom says the existing money will be used to complete the project and will do so by next summer. However, Newsom says an even more permanent solution is needed to the traffic problems on I-15.
