Valley Strong’s 28th branch opens in Porterville; 3 more launches planned this year | News

Valley Strong Credit Union opened its 28th location this week with the opening of a full-service Porterville branch on Monday, including a drive-thru and 24-hour ATM, giving it the market share and geographic reach of the largest locally based Expand Kern County Financial Institution .

The new office at 745 N. Newcomb St. is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m

After a series of mergers and new openings, the kickoff advances Bakersfield-based Valley Strong’s plan to expand its growing presence in Tulare and Kings counties north of Stockton, President and CEO Nick Ambrosini said Wednesday.

“We believe this continues what we’ve done very well in Kern County in the past, and our plan is basically to keep fueling in the Central Valley,” Ambrosini said. “The markets in which we now exist have been very welcoming to our brand and we expect it to be extremely successful in the future.”

Next week, Valley Strong plans to open an office in central Visalia that will serve as a retail branch and commercial banking center, offering mortgage lending to homebuyers in Tulare and Kings counties.

The credit union plans to open branches in Dinuba and Hanford later this year. Exact timing of launches is difficult to pin down due to construction uncertainties related to supply chain issues, Ambrosini said.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Friday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and will include raffles, a radio broadcast, a semi-truck lunch and a performance by the Monache Jazz Band.
