Search continues for man presumed drowned in Sacramento River at Sandy Beach
RIO VISTA — A US Coast Guard helicopter joined in the search for a 20-year-old Hispanic man who is presumed to have drowned after jumping off a dock into the Sacramento River and never surfacing, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The man is not from Solano County, Deputy Rex Hawkins, who is leading the search and serves as the public information officer for the department, said in a phone interview.
Hawkins said the man’s name would not be released at this time.
The incident occurred about 4:10 pm Wednesday. The dock is located at Sandy Beach.
The US Coast Guard and Rio Vista Fire Department are on scene as well as the sheriff’s Marine Unit, Hawkins said.
Family members of the victim were at the beach awaiting word, and were described as being distressed.
