Man arrested after deadly October car-to-car shooting, Sacramento Co. sheriff says

A Sacramento County man was arrested for a deadly car-to-car shooting that happened in October, authorities said. Peter Van Phan, 26, was arrested on Thursday on a murder charge related to the death of Andy The Van, 20, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.Previous coverage in video player aboveThe shooting happened on Oct. 27 around 12:54 pm near the 6400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to a Shotspotter alert to the sheriff’s office. Witnesses called the sheriff’s office to report someone had been shot inside a crashed car, according to authorities. Video from LiveCopter 3 showed a car that had crashed into a fence in the area. Deputies found a man, later identified as Andy The Van, with at least one gunshot wound inside his car that had crashed. He was taken to a local hospital but died several hours later, authorities said. It is unknown what prompted the shooting. However, investigators confirmed it was a car-to-car shooting in a release. Phan faces a single count of homicide and is being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 14, according to authorities.
