Barbara Christopherson Obituary (1935 – 2022) – Concord, CA
Barbara “Bobbi” Christopherson
September 4, 1935 – July 27, 2022
Concord, California – Barbara “Bobbi” Christopherson passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. She was a long-time resident of Sacramento.
Bobbi got her start in Sacramento as a cocktail waitress at Sam’s Ranch Wagon on Broadway. She wore a cowboy outfit complete with a hat and guns slung across her hips. She was almost friends with the bartender, Al Fazzi, and learned all of the drinks and how to make them. Later she was asked to train the new bartenders. At first, she was happy to do it but then she realized she was making lowly waitress wages while training new bartenders who made a lot more than her. Never one to shy away from a fight, she went to the boss and asked to be a bartender. She was summarily turned down but found someone to take her case…the NAACP! Before long she was the new bartender at the Ranch Wagon (one of the first women bartenders in the area) and became an instant hit with the customers. Ever since then she has had a following in Sacramento. She was always running into people who knew her…even as far away as Hawaii! Her last employment was a neighborhood bar, The Walnut Room, in south Sacramento.
Bobbi loved to play golf, loved being with her many friends, and loved to travel. She will be missed by her family who credit her with being a tough role model, full of humor and laughter and a giver of hugs and kisses to those she loved.
