MELANIE: ROADS IN SACRAMENTO ARE CLOSE AS POLICE INVESTIGATE A CRASH NEAR AUBURN AND MADISON THAT KILLED A BICYCLIST. WE ARE THERE. WHAT ARE YOU SEEING? >> CERTAINLY NOT THE KIND OF THING WE LIKE TO TELL YOU ABOUT, BUT IT FEELS ESPECIALLY HEAVY ON CHRISTMAS EVE. A BICYCLIST WAS KILLED. THE ROAD IS SHUT DOWN AS THEY ARE INVESTIGATING. WE EXPECT THE ROAD WILL BE IMPACTED FOR AN HOUR OR SO. THEY CORONERS JUST ARRIVED. CHP GAVE US A LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION AS THEY ARE WORKING ON THIS. IT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 5:30 AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR ALCOHOL OR DRUGS WERE SUSPECTED IN CONTRIBUTING TO THIS COLLISION. THEY ARE OF COURSE STILL INVESTIGATING AS THIS JUST HAPPENED ABOUT 45 MINUTES AGO. THE DRIVER IS ON SCENE AND COOPERATING WITH AUTHORITIES. SOME DRIVERS HAVE HAD TO RE-OUT AS SOME ROADS ARE IMPACTED. CHP HAS IT CLOSED OFF WHILE THEY ARE WORKING ON THIS INVESTIGATION, BUT AGAIN, SOMEONE HAS DIED AFTER BEING HIT BY A CAR. CHP DOES EXPECT TO BE OUT HERE TAKING MEASUREMENTS AND TRYING TO FIND SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE AND THAT SORT OF THING, BUT MUCH MORE THAN THAT, THEY WILL HAVE TO

A bicyclist was hit by an SUV on Auburn Boulevard just south of Madison Avenue in North Sacramento on Saturday evening, according to California Highway Patrol. CHP officers said that the accident occurred around 5:30 pm on Christmas Eve in a heavily traveled area for bicyclists and pedestrians.Roadways surrounding the scene were blocked off due to the accident but CHP said that they are expected to open within the next hour. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a cause for the accident, CHP said.

A bicyclist was hit by an SUV on Auburn Boulevard just south of Madison Avenue in North Sacramento on Saturday evening, according to California Highway Patrol.

Roadways surrounding the scene were blocked off due to the accident but CHP said that they are expected to open within the next hour.
