We’re learning more about changes coming in our weather pattern in Northern California that will bring more rain and gusty winds next week. Here’s what to know about the holiday weekend forecast for the Sacramento area and the Sierra and how to check real-time traffic conditions. A ridge of high pressure will build over the weekend with warming temperatures, especially for the Foothills and Sierra. A dense fog advisory is in effect Saturday morning until 11 am in the Valley leading to poor visibility on highways. Areas like Stockton and Modesto may or may not see sunshine later in the day. Expect scattered clouds with high temperatures ranging in the 60s in the Foothills on Christmas Day. Lake Tahoe wants to see highs in the 50s. Expect Northern California rain and snow next weekWeather into next week looks to return to a wet pattern. A series of systems will impact Northern California starting late Monday night.Each system will be unique and bring different impacts across the region.Plan for the steadiest rain timing out for early Tuesday, especially impacting the morning commute. Wind will also be strong and potentially damaging at times, which is why our weather team is calling Tuesday an Impact Day. On Tuesday, the Valley could see 1-2 inches of rain and winds gusting 35mph or more. This will be a warm system from Tuesday into Wednesday. Snow levels will be high and around 7,000 feet. Plan for more waves of rain and snow throughout the week.
