The California State Fair kicks off for its first weekend back since the pandemic started. The race, formerly known as Eppie’s Great Race, will have athletes run, bike, then paddle the American River.You can sign up for Saturday’s race right up until the night before by visiting the Great American Triathlon website.Woven Works exhibitIn Folsom, a variety of media including intricate basket sculptures by local artists are being presented at the Woven Works exhibit. It runs from Friday through Sept. 22 at the 48 Natoma Gallery. Learn more here.Aerospace Museum displaying Webb telescope imagesThe pictures that have expanded our view of the universe will be on display this weekend at the Aerospace Museum of California. From 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, people will get to see the first images from the brand new James Webb Space Telescope. A presentation will start at 11 am, in partnership with NASA Solar System Ambassador Tim Pinkney. There will also be hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) activities for families. The Aerospace Museum of California is located at 3200 Freedom Park Drive in McClellan, California. The display is included with paid regular museum admission. California State Fair

The California State Fair is underway for the first time in two years. All of the classics are back including food, rides, exhibits and the heat.

Marysville Peach Festival

Peaches will take center stage in Marysville this weekend as thousands of people are expected to come out to the annual Marysville Peach Festival.

The two-day event starts Friday at 4 pm and again on Saturday at 10 am and closes each night at 10 pm You can find more information about the free festival on the Marysville Peach Festival website.

Great American Triathlon

Athletes from across Northern California are getting ready for the return of the Great American Triathlon Saturday on the American River. The race, formerly known as Eppie’s Great Race, will have athletes run, bike, then paddle the American River.

You can sign up for Saturday’s race right up until the night before by visiting the Great American Triathlon website.

Woven Works exhibit

Extreme cage fighting is coming to Stockton this weekend. The fighting begins at 5 p.m. at the Stockton Civic Auditorium. Learn more here.

Hundreds are expected at the free Yolo County Family Festival this weekend. It’s hosted by United Way California Capital Region and will happen on Saturday from 9 am to noon at Freeman Elementary School playground.

Arts, crafts, outdoor games and a resource fair are all available to families. The event also will include a school supply and book drive for Yolo County students. Learn more here.

A Frida Kahlo-inspired art exhibit is in town and opens on Saturday – just in time for the artist’s birthday.

kiss me kate

This is the last weekend to see the Broadway musical Kiss Me Kate at UC Davis Health Pavillion in Sacramento. On Saturday you can watch the musical at 2 pm or 7:30 pm and on Sunday they have one final performance at 3 pm
