April 23, 1941 – June 9, 2022
Sacramento, California – Passed away peacefully at home in Sacramento on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Samuel A. Hayes, Sr. Born in Fresno, CA on April 23, 1941, later to reside in Sacramento and attending CK McClatchy High School. Gloria felt comfort most at home. She was an amazing stay at home mom, caring and present, and with that we gained strength and perseverance through her. She was a wonderful daughter, aunt, godmother, friend and dedicated wife of 61 years. Passionate about her work at AmeriPride Linen and Uniform she loved it, took pride in it, all the while making sure her co-workers were being taken care of. They all called her “Momma”. She retired after 35 years. She was a natural born pie maker and host, the more the merrier. Family always looked forward to those pumpkin and apple pies year after year. Those crusts! Besides her husband Samuel Sr., Gloria is survived by her two sons, Samuel Hayes Jr. and Anthony Hayes. So, bring on Chihuahuas Ginger, Peanut, Brandy & Chico. Survived by siblings: Eleanor Macias, Mickey Wong, Louie Becerril, Mark Ortega, George Ortega, Carl Ortega, Rosie Bosche, Nash Ortega, Linda Bynoe, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Gloria was predeceased by parents Rosenda N. Ortega and Jess Becerril, as well as, siblings Caroline Vega, Josephine Amaro, Lydia Maciel, Dolores Garcia, Jess G. Becerril and Jess D. Becerril. We lost an Angel. A truly amazing spirit and soul. Strong, yet selfless, with boundless love for not just our family but everyone around her. Love you tremendously and we’ll miss you terribly…Rest in Peace. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
