TEO: THANK YOU. IT’S A COOKING COMPETITION THAT FEATURES CHEF’S FROM THE FARM-TO-FORK CAPITAL. IT’S CALLED PLATE IT. SACRAMENTO IS NOW STREAMING ON VERY LOCAL. THIS MORNING WE’RE JOINED BY THE HOST OF THE SHOW, KATERINA BOBACK. YOU MAY RECOGNIZE HER VOICE OR HER RUNNING AROUND IN THE KINGS GAMES BUT YOU SWITCHED GEARS TO HOSTING AND ARE DOING IT FOR PLATE IT. >> YEAH, IT’S A LOCAL COOKING COMPETITION FEATURING LOCAL CHEFS AND IT IS SO MUCH FUN. JUST PREMIERED YESTERDAY AND EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH IT BECAUSE IT IS LOCAL, YOU CAN GO TO THE RESTAURANTS, YOU CAN ROOT THEM ON, AND WHO DOESN’T LOVE COOKING? TEO: AND YOU CAN TASTE THEIR PRIZE-WINNING TALENT I GUESS YOU COULD SAY, RIGHT? >> ABSOLUTELY. WE ARE THROWING TWISTS IN. TEO: I THINK IT WOULD BE LITERALLY THE MOST STRESSFUL THING THE WORLD. I THINK I LOST A LITTLE PART OF MY LIFE BECAUSE IT IS VERY STRESSFUL FOR CHEFS. KATERINA: I ACTUALLY AGED PROBABLY 10 YEARS WATCHING IT. ME AS THE HOST AND EVERYONE IS SO COOL, CALM, COLLECTED, MAYBE THE FIRST 25 MINUTES. THEY ONLY HAVE 45 MINUTES TO CREATE A THREE COURSE MEAL. 45 MINUTES. TEO: WALK US THROUGH THE PREMISE. BOSSES SIGN ON AND SAY I WILL DO IT. WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO DO? KATERINA: WE TELL THEM YOU’RE DOING A COOKING SHOW, MAYBE THREE OF THE REQUIRED INGREDIENTS ARE TOLD TO THEM THE DAY BEFORE, JUST TO GIVE THEM A LITTLE BIT. WE HAD TO A LOCAL GROCERY STORE OR FARMERS MARKET, SO THEY DON’T GET THE CHANCE TO BRING IN — TEO: HOW LONG DO THEY HAVE TO SHOP? KATERINA: 15 MINUTES AND $100. THEY HAVE TO GET ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS FOR A SPECIFIC THEME. THE PREMIER YESTERDAY WAS PICNIC THEME. OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO GET A SACRAMENT TO PICNIC. THEY GO IN, GET THE INGREDIENTS, 15 MINUTES. IF THEY MISS SOME STUFF, THIS IS THE SHOW. TEO: IT IS WHAT IT IS. HOW MANY PLATES OF FOOD DO THEY MAY, HOW MANY JUDGES? KATERINA: THREE JUDGES, INCLUDING MYSELF. I AM HONORED BECAUSE I’M NOT A CHEF AT ALL. I’M JUST LIKE AN EATER, LIKE US. TEO: I LOVE IT TOO. KATERINA: THERE ARE THREE CHEFS AND THEY HAVE TO CREATE THREE MEALS. THEY HAVE TO DO AN APPETIZER, ENTREE, AND IS ARE IN 45 MINUTES BUT THERE IS ANOTHER CATCH. THEY THINK WE PREP THEM A LITTLE BIT, SECRET INGREDIENTS RIGHT BEFORE THEY START. UNKNOWN, THEY HAVE NO IDEA. WHOLE THING. TEO: BUBBLEGUM! KATERINA: THAT WOULD BE A GOOD ONE. I DUNNO HOW THEY WOULD DO THAT. TEO: HAVE YOU HAD ANY FOOD FAILS? KATERINA: OH YEAH. I CAN’T SPOIL IT BECAUSE I WANT EVERYONE TO WATCH IT BUT BASICALLY ONE EPISODE SOMEONE MAY OR MAY NOT ON THE LAST THREE SECONDS THROUGH SOMETHING, A SECRET INGREDIENT ONTO THE PLATE AS IT ALMOST ROLLS OFF. LIKE THAT CLOSE. TEO: LIKE I HAD TO PUT IT IN. KATERINA: THEY WERE PLATING AND RUNNING SO LATE THAT THEY THREW THE LAST ME ON THEIR PLATE. TEO: WHAT DO THEY WIN? KATERINA: BRAGGING RIGHTS OF COURSE AND A GOLDEN FORK TROPHY. TEO: VERY COOL. WE HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT. I THINK THIS WILL BE POPULAR.
