Monday forecast for Sacramento rain, Sierra snow

Following a weekend of rain, snow and thunderstorms, wet weather is forecast to continue for Northern California — at least for the start of the week. Meteorologist Tamara Berg says Monday we can expect some on-and-off showers throughout the day with snow above 4,500 feet. You could have some slower than normal kind of traffic on the roads as that rain really comes down,” she said. By 3 pm, occasional showers will begin to blossom again with the occasional rumble of thunder. The Valley could see .10 to .40 inches of rain, with the Foothills possibly seeing .25 to .75 inches.The system is expected to move out of Northern California by Tuesday. SNOWSnowfall for the mountains on Monday will be mainly above 4,000 feet. Around the passes, we could see 6 to 8 inches of new accumulation in the next 24 hours.LOOKING AHEADWednesday will stay dry, and the front half of Thursday may also stay dry. However, later in the day Thursday may see some rain showers. “Then we’re getting into more unsettled weather as we head into late Friday and into Saturday,” Berg said.
