“Mustangs In The Outfield” To Highlight Career Programs

Delta College will offer the general public, students and employees free vouchers to attend an Aug. 7 Stockton Ports game, a broader effort to spread the word about the College’s programs, services, and far-ranging career possibilities.

“Mustangs in the Outfield” at Banner Island Ballpark marks the first large-scale, in-person event hosted by Delta College since the pandemic began in March 2020. The ballpark is at 404 W. Fremont St., Stockton.

In addition to the 6:05 pm baseball game itself, Delta will host tables beginning at 4:30 pm at the ballpark that Sunday, showcasing pathways from school to career with an emphasis on engaging students to enter, rediscover, follow, and finish their academic journeys. The event will feature family-friendly activities, on-field activities, and media showcasing students from Delta’s Digital Media department.

Vouchers are available to the general public, Delta students, and Delta employees. Vouchers can be requested at: deltacollege.edu/mustangsoutfield.

Seating is limited, so requests should be made as soon as possible.

“This event is all about letting our students and the community know that Delta College is here for them, and that we have amazing career education programs that can get them quickly into high-wage jobs,” said Dr. Heather Maloy, a Delta College project manager focused on career education.

“Delta College is here to stay,” she said. “We are here to support our students and community members, to cheer them on and cheer on our ports all at the same time. We invite all in the community to request vouchers, come enjoy the game and learn a little more about what Delta has to offer.”

Offering more than 200 degree and certificate programs, Delta College is key to the northern San Joaquin Valley’s recovery from the pandemic. The College provides pathways directly to higher-paying careers in the community, some of which have been shown to double or even triple students’ incomes.

Two-thirds of Delta students are eligible for free tuition, and other forms of financial aid and various support services are available to make the academic journey as smooth as possible.

Delta’s career education programs are diverse, ranging from technical careers and trades to agriculture, business, law, the arts, healthcare, and much more. You can explore potential career pathways at deltacollege.edu/tracs.

Fall Semester begins Aug. 22 and applications are now open.

The Mustangs in the Outfield game will feature the Stockton Ports hosting the Modesto Nuts.

Delta students, employees and members of the public can request a voucher for up to four general admission entrances each. Space is limited, so make your request as soon as possible. If your request is successful, you will receive a voucher by email at a later date.

Vouchers can be exchanged on game day for general admission entrances to the game. The single-game vouchers are good for the Sunday, Aug. 7 game only.

Mustangs in the Outfield is sponsored by the Career Technical Education and Workforce Development and Directing Adults on the Right TrAC for Employment (DARTE).

Again, vouchers can be requested by going to: deltacollege.edu/mustangsoutfield.
