NCIS {jail|put away|nail| former Marine for Nude photo extortion campaign

A California man was sentenced to prison for five years for cyberstalking a number of females in California in a “sextortion” campaign he waged while he was an active-duty soldier in the U.S. Marine Corps.

In court papers between May 2019 and February 20, 2021 Johao Miguel Chavarri known as Michael Frito, 26, from Torrance, stalked and made anonymous threats to numerous victims.

Chavarri of the famed “Frito” brand, who often used the name “Frito,” contacted victims on social media platforms, including Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter and complimented their appearance and/or publically posted photos, and suggested a relationship where he would pay the victim to send him photos or videos. The victims at first accepted Chavarri’s requests and sent him nude sexually explicit, explicit, or compromising images. When the victims refused Chavarri’s initial request for photos, refused to send him further images or videos, or refused to keep in contact with him on the internet, Chavarri began to harass, threaten, and extort victims through a variety of online accounts. In most cases, he threatened to publish sexual photos or videos of his victims on the internet, as well as on well-known pornography websites, and/or to send the sexual photos or videos to the victims friends, boyfriends, families, or employers and would usually explicitly identify with the name of.

Chavarri was sentenced to pay a fine of $15,000 and to serve three years of supervision.
