Theresa Y. Quiroz has been named Chief Executive Officer of Rio Grande Electric Cooperative, Inc., effective July 20, 2022.
With her appointment, Quiroz becomes the seventh CEO in the 77-year-old Cooperative’s history, and the first woman to hold the position. Ms. Quiroz has served as Interim CEO since March 1, 2022. Prior to her appointment as Interim CEO, Quiroz was Chief Operating Officer (COO) for approximately five years. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience, having held various positions at the Cooperative throughout her career of over 20 years.
“Theresa is the perfect person to assume the helm of the Cooperative,” said RGEC Board President Tim Edwards, “Her proven leadership skills, and vast working knowledge of the Co-op’s operational and financial practices will serve the membership well. She is forward-thinking but has a reverence for all that has gone into making Rio Grande what it is today.”
The RGEC Board passed a resolution naming Quiroz as CEO, during their regularly scheduled monthly meeting held at the Cooperative’s Fort Stockton location July 20, which was certified by Board Secretary Priscilla Parsons. Rio Grande Electric Cooperative’s service territory encompasses all or portions of 18 counties in Texas and two in New Mexico. In addition, RGEC owns and maintains the electrical distribution systems at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, and Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio.
