Richard “Rich” Reilly
January 26, 1937 – July 8, 2022
Sacramento, California – On Friday, July 8, 2022, the Reilly, Powell, Love Families sadly lost their loving Husband, Dad, Pops, Poppa at age 85. Rich died peacefully in the home he loved with family by his side. His battle with lung cancer this past year showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite his pain, Rich came out as our hero, staying strong until the end.
Rich was preceded in death by parents Hedwig and Julius Reilly, siblings Helen and George.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs. Carol (Keefe) Reilly, cherished daughter Cindy Love (Jack), adored sons Kris (Teri Dec) and Craig Reilly, treasured grandsons Ryan Powell, Noah Powell, Sam Reilly and ended granddaughter Sarah Cummings, Sis in law Rose Twomey and many nieces and nephews, and Jack and Cindy’s blended family Ryan, Noah, Bryan, Jennifer, Rebecca, Jessica and 8 beloved grandchildren.
Rich was born in SF Ca attending parochial schools until he graduated in 1954 from Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory as Class Valedictorian. He served 8 years in the USNR.
Rich and Carol moved to Sacramento in 1961 where Rich worked in the insurance business and retired as Marketing Vice President with the Cigna Corporation.
He lived with a book always at his side. He was a self-taught pianist, drummer, and guitarist. His hobbies: baseball, golf, folk music, gardening, trips to the ocean, volunteering, rooting for his Giants and 49ers, Pocket Little League Coach, Volunteer at Saint Anthony’s, morning coffee chats with his guys from Starbucks, and meetings with his friends from Bill W. Academy so enriched his life. He cherished time with family and friends above all else.
Services are July 27, 2022, at 11:00 am, with a mass of Christian Burial at St Anthony’s Church, 660 Florin Rd. Sacramento, CA. A luncheon celebration follows at the Memorial Center. Summer casual attire.
