Sacramento Single-Vehicle Accident Shears Phone Pole

Sierra Boulevard Single-Vehicle Accident Results in Minor Trauma

A single-vehicle accident occurred in Sacramento on August 11 when a vehicle crashed into a telephone pole. The pole was sheared off at the base by the impact of the collision. The incident was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as happening at about 2:00 pm along Sierra Boulevard between Fulton Avenue and Woodside Oaks.

SMUD Crew Sent to Crash Site to Remove Downed Telephone Pole

A crew with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) was called to the scene to remove and replace the pole, and first responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived to assess the injuries. It was determined that minor trauma occurred in one individual. The accident is under investigation by the CHP to find out why the collision occurred.

Causes of a Single Vehicle Accident

A single-vehicle accident is usually caused by driver error such as speeding, distracted driving or others. Accidents may have different causes than what initially appears on the surface. There are also factors outside the driver’s control that can contribute to accidents involving a solo vehicle, including:

  • Car defects: When something goes wrong in a motor vehicle while it is on the road, it can cause the driver to lose control, causing a single-vehicle accident. Major injuries can occur from these types of collisions if the vehicle experiences a blowout, the accelerator sticks or brakes fail because they are defective. The vehicle can be inspected for defects after a collision, which is one reason why it is important to keep it following a collision. Manufacturers and others may be liable in these cases under California product liability laws. An accident attorney can help you file an auto product liability lawsuit to recover compensation for your injuries.
  • Fleeing or aggressive drivers: Drivers who flee the scene after a hit-and-run accident may make it appear as though no other motorists were involved in the single-vehicle accident. Drivers who are aggressive or have road rage can also cause what appears to be a single-vehicle crash by tailgating, forcing another car off the roadway or making other threats. A roadway or traffic camera, as well as other evidence that another vehicle caused the accident, can be checked by our injury attorneys. When that driver is located, they can be held financially liable for injuries that occur.
  • Poor government Maintenance: Poor maintenance of roads can include debris, potholes, missing signage, soft shoulders and others that can cause a single-vehicle accident. Government entities may be liable for injuries that occur in these circumstances. If you want to file a lawsuit against a government entity, you have six months from the time of the incident. In these cases, it is important to consult an injury attorney quickly to ensure that deadlines are met. By waiting too long, the court will refuse to hear the case.
