Sally Gay Stuckey – Manteca Bulletin

The daughter of Dr. Lloyd C. Stuckey and Margaret Louisa Milwee Stuckey, Sally was born in Stockton in 1950 and passed away on July 31, 2022.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty years, James “Jim” TC Nuss, two beautiful daughters, Emily Woodward Nuss (fiancé Andrew Schultz) of Galt, and Ingrid Bellomy Beltz (Bradley Beltz) of Lodi. Sally has two grandchildren, Ace Beltz, and Piper Beltz, who lovingly refer to her as Banana. She often told her family and friends about the love, joy and fun Ace and Piper brought into her life. Sally is also survived by her sister Barbara of Switzerland.

Sally loved and appreciated her stepmother, Fay Furtado Stuckey, and is survived by Fay’s children, a stepsister, Karen (Ken) of Modesto, their daughter, Sarah of Dallas, their son John (Megan), and their two daughters, Elizabeth, and Emma, ​​of Wichita Falls, Texas, and a

stepbrother, Mark Furtado (Robin) of Huntington Beach and their son Justin of Dallas. In addition to her immediate family Sally grew up surrounded by cousins ​​and close friends who enriched her life with so much happiness, fun, laughter, and love.

Sally lived in Manteca for her first five years and then her family moved to Stockton when her dad became the controller at University of the Pacific. She attended Cleveland Elementary, Stockton Jr. High and graduated from AA Stagg High School in 1968. Sally attended the University of Pacific and graduated in 1972 with a degree in psychology. After graduation she moved to Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, for several months, where she taught English to Kindergarten students.

Sally came back to the Stockton area and began counseling teens at the Modesto Family Counseling Center and Petersen Hall and completed further work at Pacific to obtain her teaching credential. Through high school and college Sally enjoyed working at the Bookmark on

Pacific Avenue in Stockton. She also enjoyed many trips to Europe, Honolulu and Maui traveling with her sister, family members, and friends. For over 34 years Sally enjoyed teaching elementary school as a classroom, GATE, Reading

Recovery and Transitional Kindergarten teacher for Calaveras, Manteca, and Lodi Unified School districts. She retired from Lodi Unified in July 2021. Sally loved watching sports with her family,

friends and her much loved cats, Lily and Lucy. Sally was always up for Giants Baseball, 49er Football, or an F-1 race, and she shared the fun of being an Oregon Duck fan with her husband Jim, an Oregon graduate. Sally enjoyed a life filed with many rich experiences and the love of so many friends and family, we miss her profoundly.

It was Sally’s preference that there be no formal funeral services. Her hope was that she was honored, celebrated, and remembered by those who were close to her, each in their own private way. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite local charity and consider planting a tree in support of the environment.
