Southwest flight lands back in Sacramento after bird strike

A Southwest Airlines flight did not spend too long in the air when a bird strike forced it to land back in Sacramento on Tuesday, officials said.A spokesperson with the Sacramento International Airport said the bird strike happened shortly after takeoff, which caused the plane to circle back and land at SMF. The plane took off from Sacramento at 5:47 pm and was headed to Burbank in Southern California.A Southwest spokesperson in an email told KCRA 3 that a different aircraft was brought in to continue the flight.UC Davis staff told KCRA 3 Sports Reporter Michelle Dapper that the UC Davis men’s basketball team was on that plane.”Of course, everybody was like ‘oh my god’ and they were getting their phones out and looking at the flight path… everybody was so afraid at that point but nobody panicked,” said UC Davis radio announcer Scott Marsh. There are no reported injuries.
