Prescott, Arizona – It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Terrel Ray Tinkler, of Prescott, AZ on May 12, 2022, at the age of 75 years.
Terrel was born in Clovis, CA in 1947 to Jesse and Veva Tinkler. Growing up in Clovis he was blessed to live near his many relatives. Terrel helped on the family farm, and enjoyed many happy gatherings there with his large, loving family. The family attended First Baptist Church of Clovis, and Terrel was instrumental in building the first phase of FBCC in its current location.
At a young age Terrel began drafting houses, and dreamed of becoming an architect. After graduating from Clovis High School and Fresno City College, he earned his degree at California Polytechnic State University School of Architecture in 1973.
He proudly served in the Army National Guard at Fort Gordon, GA as an Avionics mechanic.
In 1974, Terrel moved to Santa Rosa, CA. He and his brother founded Tinkler & Associates Architects where they designed residential, and commercial buildings, and updated schools for 33 years. Terrel was a member of American Institute of Architects, the 20/30 Club, and Redwood Empire Railroad Club. He was a man of many other passions including, trains, traveling, playing the saxophone and social dancing. At the age of 10 years, Terrel became an NFL 49er fanatic, a season ticket holder at Candlestick Park, and followed the team faithfully every season.
Upon his retirement in 2014 to Prescott, AZ, Terrel devoted countless hours to his appreciation of model railroading. His interest in trains didn’t stop at creating his own model railroad. He supported the Central Arizona Model Railroad Club in many ways, and served as President for 2 years. Terrel loved living in Prescott, and was actively engaged in building models to preserve railroad history. He volunteered at several elementary schools to educate children about the importance and enjoyment of the railroad. Terrel truly enjoyed helping others.
He will be lovingly remembered by his partner of 15 years, Linda Davis of Prescott, AZ (Katie and Sarah); sister, Gloria (Phil) Broughton. Terrel was preceded in death by his brother, Nolan (Rita) Tinkler. He is survived by a nephew, Corbin Tinkler; and niece, Shannon (Tyler) Hoyt; and many other family members.
