Tyson Ruffins and his team Long Beach Poly took the near four-hour drive to take on longtime Central Section power Clovis High to kick off the 2022-23 season.

Following that 56-7 thrashing the Jackrabbits delivered at Lamonica Stadium, it turns out the left tackle with close to 25 scholarship offers may not be done with traveling to the 559 anytime soon.

Ruffins was offered by Fresno State for the 2023 class – with his official offer arriving on Aug. 5. And he tells BarkBoard.com that FS is still in contact with him.

“I’ve talked to coach (Saga) Tuitele a lot,” Ruffins said. “The coaches and the programs are great people. It’s an amazing thing to come out here and be blessed.”

Ruffins kept the edge rushers at bay and used that same violent upper body that’s turned him into a NCAA Division I prospect, plus one of the latest FBS talents at a traditional college football breeding factory.

Long Beach Poly jumped out to a 28-0 lead before halftime before surpassing the 50-point threshold in the opener.

Will he return to the Central Valley with the Bulldogs starting soon in September? Ruffins said he and his family will be racking up the miles soon before making his college decision.

“We’re definitely making our rounds during the season. We’re going to be making some official visits during the season. We’re in the planning stages there,” Ruffins said. He concludes he’ll announce his four-year choice in December.
