Timothy Lien Obituary (1957 – 2022) – Sacramento, CA

Timothy Lien
July 11, 1957 – July 20, 2022
Sacramento, California –
Timothy Stanley Lien passed away July 20, 2022 at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kim Lien and his beloved family, including: sons Matt Lien (Michaele) and Taylor Lien (Lauren), and daughter Lori Lien, grandchildren Hudson, Parker, Jase, and Mila Lien, as well as brother Mike Lien (Darcy Ketchum).
Tim was born in Sacramento on July 11, 1957 to Norman and Dorothy Lien. He was a proud alumnus of Jesuit High School and the University of California Berkeley, where he earned a degree in Architecture and was a member of the Fiji house. It was at Berkeley that he met the love of his life Kim, whom he married in 1981.
Following Berkeley, Tim moved to Davis and joined his father and brother at Walker, Donant and Company, a homebuilding and land development company, and L and D Landfill, a waste management and recycling entity. Tim demonstrated integrity and tremendous work ethics in all he did.
Tim loved Sacramento and was extremely involved in the community. He served on numerous boards and committees, including Jesuit High School, Cristo Rey High School, The Crocker Art Museum, First Baptist Church of Davis, El Macero, and more. He was an active member of the Sutter Club, El Macero Country Club and the International Wine and Food Society, and proudly supported St. Francis High School.
Tim loved to travel with his wife, family, and dear friends, and took golf trips all over the country and world. He enjoyed weekends in Santa Cruz and Piscator weekends in Tahoe, watching Kings basketball, Giants baseball, and Cal football, SportsCenter at night, and golf on the weekends.
Beyond all this, and what he would consider most important, Tim was a loving husband, father, papa, and friend who took great joy in providing for his family. He was generous, kind and friendly – a quintessential optimist, always with a smile on his face. Tim had a quiet faith, but his actions demonstrated the call of the Gospel – to love God and to love others, both of which he did well.
There will be a service at the Jesuit High School Gym (4660 Fair Oaks Blvd. – at O’Donnell Drive – Sacramento, CA 95864) on August 21 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the scholarship funds at Jesuit and/or Cristo Rey High Schools, or the Campership Fund at Mount Hermon.
