1 arrested in connection with West Sacramento homeless death

One man was arrested in connection with the death of an unhoused woman in West Sacramento, authorities said. The woman was found dead at an encampment south of Sacramento Avenue and north of the railroad tracks on Friday just before 11 am, the West Sacramento Police Department said in a news release. Authorities said Alfonso Rigoberto Ornelas was arrested early Saturday morning on a Ramey Warrant, which is when a police department goes straight to a judge to issue an arrest warrant by bypassing the district attorney. It’s unclear what Ornelas is being charged with investigation, or why he was arrested.No other details on the death were released.Ornelas was booked into the Yolo County Jail with no bail.
