Charlotte Hornets (7-22) vs. Sacramento Kings (16-12)
The 2022-23 NBA betting action continues Monday in this inter-conference battle when the Charlotte Hornets take on the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.
The Hornets may be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak. They lost to Atlanta on Friday, 125-106. Charlotte faces Denver on Sunday, but that contest was not included in this analysis. Sacramento won their second straight game when they defeated Detroit on Friday, 122-113. These teams met in Charlotte in October with the Kings coming away with a 115-108 victory.
Hawk’s Soar over Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets (7-22, 12-15-2 ATS) found themselves trailing by 14 coming out of the first quarter and were not able to recover, losing to Atlanta on Friday, 125-106. The loss was the seventh in a row for Charlotte, who head to the road where they are 3-11. It is not surprising that Charlotte is where they are in the standings, as they are 25th in points per game (110.1) and 28th in points allowed per contest (117.3).
“We have to try to figure it out here and it certainly won’t get any easier. It’s the NBA,” Gordon Hayward said following the loss. “Things have to start on the defensive end for us. Every night is not going to be good on the offensive end, so we have to give ourselves a chance and that’s starts on the defensive end.”

LaMelo Ball led the Hornets in scoring with 27 points, hitting nine of 18 shots, including 7-13 from three-point range. However, the club hit 39.8% of their shots while Atlanta hit 54.7%. The Hawks took 23 fewer shots in the game, but were 15-29 (51.7%) from three-point range and took 15 more free throws in the contest. Charlotte hit 68.4% of their free-throw attempts and are 26th in free-throw percentage (73.8%).
Third Quarter Rally Propels Kings
The Sacramento Kings (16-12, 18-10-0 ATS) trailed by eight at the half, but outscored Detroit by 15 points in the third quarter on their way to a 122-113 victory. Sacramento returns home where they are 8-4 this season, winning their last three games at the Golden 1 Center. Sacramento shot 52.4% in the contest, and were 24-29 (82.8%) from the free-throw line.
“That was a beautiful game of basketball, especially to finish a long road trip,” Kings coach Mike Brown said. “I’ve coached a lot of great players, but if (Sabonis) isn’t the hardest-working one of them all, he’s in the top three. You know what you are going to get every night from that man.”

The seems like a contest made in heaven for Sacramento. They are a team that puts up a lot of points, scoring 122+ points in each of their last two contests. Charlotte is a team that struggles to stop anyone from scoring. They have given up at least 121 points in five straight games and enter this contest struggling mightily, losers of seven straight games, maybe even eight if they lost on Sunday.
Plus, this is going to be a tired Hornets team. The club had to travel all the way from Charlotte on Saturday to take on Denver on Sunday, then head to California for Monday’s game. Charlotte was already 0-4 ATS in their last four games.
Prediction: Take the Sacramento Kings at -8.0 (-110)

Full game total pick
This total would seem like a foregone conclusion. Sacramento is an offensive machine while Charlotte simply cannot shut anyone down. They have given up at least 121 points in five straight games and will likely give up around 120 in this contest as well, maybe even as many as 130.
The question is if they can then produce points themselves. The club has scored 106 or fewer points in three of their last seven games and have been held under 118 and all but one of their last seven contests with the one exception being an overtime loss.
This is a team that is going to be tired after a tough contest against Denver and then a flight to play on back-to-back nights. Look for tired legs and poor shooting as Sacramento wins by at least 20.
Prediction: Go under 240.0 (-110)
