Corona Centennial cruises past Modesto Christian 78-42 in rematch of CIF State Open Division championship game
SACRAMENTO — In a rematch of last season’s CIF State Open Division title game, Corona Centennial cruised to a 78-42 victory over Modesto Christian on Saturday night in the The Proving Grounds ’22 showcase hosted by Sheldon High School.
The Huskies defeated Modesto Christian 59-50 last March to win the Open Division state championship in Sacramento.
Centennial (5-1) jumped out to a 20-8 first-period lead and never looked back.
Jared McCain scored 13 of his game-high 19 points during the first half while teammate Aaron McBride finished with 17. McCain and McBride combined for 14 points in the opening eight minutes.
