SPOKANE, Wash. — The world’s largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament is just a few days away. Team check-ins and the Toyota Shoot-off kicked off on Thursday.

Hoopfest staff is busy gearing up for this weekend, especially Hoopfest’s first-year executive director Riley Stockton.

“We have to load all the basketballs for tomorrow. We have to set up Hall of Fame event that is tonight,” Stockton said. It’s a big big day. We’re just trying to get things going.”

Stockton needs to deliver signs and other stuff across downtown Spokane, and when he has time, he checks emails and makes sure everything is headed in the right direction.

“Printing off the list of who’s showing up to Hall of Fame tonight, and we have tickets ready…putting those final touches,” Stockton said.

He says he doesn’t feel nervous at all as a first-year director who’s handling the return of Hoopfest following a two-year break.

“I’m most excited just to have it back. It’s been a long couple of years. I think people are just ready to have Hoopfest back,” Stockton said.

He also says the most exciting thing for Hoopfest fans will be the new center court inside the Pavilion.

“It’s going to be great. It’s exciting to be back,” Stockton said.
