Jerry Stroud Obituary (1955 – 2022) – Modesto, CA

On Monday, August 8th, Jerry W. Stroud, a loving and devoted husband and father, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jerry was born on May 31, 1955, to Virgil and Jeane Stroud in Tracy, CA., where he enjoyed a happy childhood with his sister Connie. Jerry also spent many happy and fun years at Lake Tulloch, where his parents enjoyed camping, and eventually bought a piece of property on the lake. In his pre-teen years, he discovered a love for music and started playing the guitar. This passion was reflected in his desire to start, and to play in bands, for the public. His first band, The Good Society was well known throughout local communities. The second band, Morning Star, took him throughout the US, playing for the club and casino circuits. This band also worked for the Department of Defense, touring the world and playing for our troops in the military. While he lived in Modesto, he played with a country western band, Unbridled. They would play locally and opened for famous country western singers and bands, who would stop through Modesto. The band Jerry was with when he passed, was Sound Advice. Playing for local functions and charities was a way to give back to the community.

Jerry married Kim, the love of his life, in 1982. The couple resided in San Francisco for a few years and then in 1986, a pivotal event of Jerry’s life occurred – the birth of his son Christopher. The love Jerry felt for his son was a gift from God bestowed upon him, far beyond his imagination. Christopher would play an instrumental part in Jerry’s walk with the Lord. The following year in 1987, Jerry moved his family to Modesto. Jerry enjoyed baseball and Christopher enjoyed playing it! Many years, Jerry would be an assistant coach for his son’s teams. Jerry and Christopher shared a special father/son relationship that continued until the very moment he went to his eternal home.

Jerry and Kim were able to celebrate their 40th anniversary in June, before his passing. Jerry will always be remembered as a loving and caring father, friend, son, brother, uncle and husband. He was a humble man who loved the Lord and his family immensely.

He is survived by his loving wife Kim Stroud, precious son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Kristina Stroud, sisters, Connie Ohlendorf (Tom), Sandi Evans, sister-in-law, Patty Law (Randy), brother-in -law, Kevin Osterdock (Shelly), mother-in-law who considered him as a son, Pat Osterdock, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30am on September 1, 2022,

Shelter Cove Community Church, 4242 Coffee Rd., Modesto, CA.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a charitable contribution be made to either The Modesto Pregnancy Center or Without Permission (a non-profit to help end human trafficking.
