Joanne Brown Cooney
July 29, 1936 – May 22, 2022
Clovis, California – Our beloved Joanne passed away in the early hours of May 22 at the age of 85 at The Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. She is now reunited with all her heavenly family and dear friends who have gone before her. Joanne’s heart was broken forever after the recent loss of her soulmate and husband of 38 years, Terry. Her life was never the same after this loss. Our precious mother, sister, aunt, friend and grandmother “Nanny” has ended her journey in life, but our cherished memories of her will always be with us.
Joanne “Brown” was born in Sanger to Thelma and Cylde Brown. She grew up with two sisters, Barbara and Sharon, and her late brother, Gary. They were fortunate to have remained close throughout their lives.
Joanne loved tending to her garden and found great pleasure raising her Sego palms, fruit trees, vegetable garden and succulents. Anyone who walked into their home could see her sense of style and the ability to create beautiful things all around her. Their home was always immaculate and beautifully decorated. Joanne loved creating special recipes together with her husband to entertain their friends and family throughout their years together.
She was always known as a kind and compassionate person for anyone who needed her advice. Joanne stayed in touch with her longtime friends from Sanger High, class of 1955 until the end. They would spend the afternoon lunching, gossiping and playing cards. That gave her great joy later in her life.
Joanne had a lifelong career in real estate and property management. Earlier in life, she was a proud mother and homemaker, then later enjoyed her grandchildren and even great grandchildren, as well as her numerous neices and nephews. Joanne and Terry’s second beloved Yorkie “Terra Lee” added great happiness to their daily life together. Joanne is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Harrison (Skip) and son Kevin Funderburg (Debbie)their children (Brittany, Paul and Kevin Jr) Joanne’s step children, Teryl Andrews (Phil), Shane Holden (Anne) their children( Ian and Alexis ) Dianne (Missy) Nichols, her children (Anthony, Mary,Derek, Jerad) Kimberly Montana, her children (Viktoria and Ciara) and step daughter Pamela Yates.
