Juvenile dies, another injured after Sacramento-area chase, crash

A juvenile has died after a pursuit that ended in a crash Friday evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said. Another juvenile was also injured.For reasons not yet known, a pursuit started within Sacramento city limits, as officers with the Sacramento Police Department chased after a vehicle until they evaded officers, the sheriff’s office said.Sacramento police said its officers tried to pull over the vehicle near 65th Street and 14th Avenue around 8:50 pm after it violated a vehicle code. The driver didn’t stop, and a chase lasted for about three minutes before all officers were pulled away from continuing to chase the vehicle. A deputy later spotted the vehicle and tried to pull them over, but the driver kept going, starting another pursuit . The juvenile driver eventually crashed near Norwood and Main avenues.It is unknown how many passengers were in the vehicle, and if it was the driver or passenger who died in the crash.Both juveniles mentioned were male, and the condition of the injured juvenile is not known.It is also unknown where the first pursuit began and ended.KCRA 3’s Lee Anne Denyer is at the scene.
