Modesto man killed in accident at Bacon, Jackson roads

CHP says he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

MODESTO, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol says a Modesto man died Tuesday night. He was a passenger in a Honda SUV that collided with another vehicle after the driver ran a stop sign.

According to CHP, it happened around 4:15 pm at the intersection of Bacon Road and Jackson Road.

CHP says a 19-year-old was driving his 2012 Honda SUV southbound on Jackson Road when he ran a stop sign at Bacon Road.

The Honda collided with a 2018 Ram pickup truck headed east on Bacon Road, causing both vehicles to go into an almond field.

The 19-year-old driver was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center while his passenger, also 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ram had minor injuries and declined treatment.

CHP says neither person in the Honda was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash, and it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
