Sacramento police shoots, kills woman after she stabbed officer

A woman was shot and killed by Sacramento police after an officer was stabbed in the upper right arm on Saturday night, according to the Sacramento Police Department. Police said a woman reported just before 7:30 pm that she was assaulted by another woman near Plaza Avenue and Del Paso Boulevard. Officers later located someone who matched the description of the alleged attacker, which is when the officer was stabbed, according to police. “As our officers confronted that suspect, one of our officers was stabbed in the upper arm. Right after the stabbing occurred, an officer-involved shooting occurred and the female was shot. Unfortunately, that female is deceased from the officer-involved shooting, ” said Sgt. Zach Eaton, of the Sacramento Police Department. The officer is in surgery and his injuries were described as non-life-threatening but serious. Eaton said the initial woman who made contact with officers about the assault had visible injuries, but was expected to be OK. He said additional information about the woman was unavailable. Police said a knife was also located on the scene. Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to contact the Sacramento Police Department.”It’s very early in the investigation,” Eaton said. “I would encourage anybody who has any information, that may have seen what happened or any of this person’s actions leading up to the officer-involved shooting to please contact the police department so we can speak with them.”Eaton said the officer-involved shooting occurred in an alley.
