Hilmar, California – With great sorrow the family of Joseph Nickalaus Rohrer Jr. announces his passing at the age of 82 on August 16, 2022. He was a wonderful, caring, and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Joseph was born in Holtville, CA on April 10,1940. His family moved to Turlock, CA in 1941 where he attended Mitchell Community School and Turlock High School. He met Sybil, his wife to be in the 1st grade and they were friends throughout their school years. He joined the US Navy in 1957 and was stationed in Long Beach, CA. In the Navy, he was aboard the USS CHEMUNG (AO-30). He was honorably discharged at the rank of Petty Officer E-5 BT2 in 1961. He married his loving wife on January 8, 1960, and they just celebrated their 62nd anniversary. After his time in the Navy, he worked for several companies: Campbell’s Soup, International Paper Company, Servomation, Joe Sallaberry Pumps, International Paper Company and Warehouser. In 1973, Joseph and Sybil purchased their parents turkey ranch. They named it “Rohrer’s Turkey Ranch” and raised turkeys for over 25 years. They retired and moved to New Mexico in 2004. Joseph is preceded in death by his loving wife Sybil Carrolyn Rohrer, his father Josef Nicklaus Rohrer Sr. and his mother Rose Marie Sigrist Rohrer Holloway. He is survived by his son Scott Gilbert Rohrer of Hilmar, daughter Susan Kay Maser of Denair and son in law Michael E. Maser of Denair; 4 grandchildren Marci K Couch, April C Mailloux, Rochelle L Violette, and Tiffany N James; 5 great grandchildren Kaylee Slinker, Faith Mailloux, Dakota Couch, Brooklynn Mailloux, and Zachery Couch; sister’s Rosemary Parker (Charles Schuyler), and Marguerite Davidson (Ed); brothers William Bill Rohrer (Karri), and John Rohrer (Jolee), and several nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on September 2, 2022, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at 247 N. Broadway in Turlock. A graveside service will be held on September 3, 2022, at 10:00am at Turlock Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Mitchell Community Church 1507 S. Mitchell Rd.
