South Sacramento family frustrated with lack of storm cleanup
Days after deadly storms ripped through Northern California, many people are still dealing with the damage. One resident in a south Sacramento apartment complex said a tree limb was stuck in his home for nearly two weeks. Latrice Baker said that on Jan. 9 her father, 78-year-old Albert Baker, reported the damage to the apartment’s management office. They assumed the situation would be handled, but more rain came, and two weeks later, Latrice received another call from her dad saying rain was coming inside a closet in the home. That’s when Latrice said she decided to contact the property herself. She said she was told that it was the homeowners association’s problem.Latrice said she found the number to the Management Trust HOA online and left a voicemail.”She took a deep breath and said ‘I am so sorry this is my first time hearing of this’,” said Baker describing her phone call with the HOA company. Despite not receiving a follow-up call, a tree company did come to remove the limb, but the damage still remains. Latrice Baker said she’s afraid it’s going to take another fight to get the hole fixed, but she’s willing to do what it takes for her dad.”He’s done everything for me because it’s the right thing to do. If I saw anybody going through this I would speak up,” said Latrice. KCRA 3 reached out to the HOA company but did not receive a callback.
