Suspected serial rapist arrested by CHP; assaults occurred in Sacramento area
California Highway Patrol arrested a man on Thursday in connection to three reported sexual assaults along Highway 99 northbound near Sacramento. According to CHP, all three reports involved a male with a similar description, driving a car with a similar description, and accusing him of assaulting women. All three were also within a 2.4-mile radius and off the highway. CHP believes that the person they arrested is the suspect in these three assaults. CHP said two of the victims were assaulted and raped at knifepoint inside the vehicle. In a release sent out by CHP on Friday, they said CHP officers prevented the third assault and attempted rape. While investigating, officers identified the assailant and collected a DNA sample. CHP said on Dec. 21, the Sacramento County Crime Lab was able to confirm that DNA from one of the reported assaults matched DNA from the most recent. Nabil Elomari, 24, was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 22, at his home, and a search was conducted there to gather evidence. Elomari was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail for a variety of charges, including rape and kidnapping. His bail is $425,000.
